Founded in 1839, Assam Company Ltd has a truly unique heritage. It is the first tea company in the world and was incorporated by Royal Charter by Her Majesty Queen Victoria in 1845 for its pioneering excellence. The associate company of erstwhile Assam Company first discovered oil at Digboi in 1886.

ACL enjoys its reputation for organizational excellence and a strong International presence. The Company diversed into the oil and gas Industry following liberalization of Indian Government policies in 1991/92 and has developed a dedicated and experienced corporate personnel Team which leads its Oil & Gas Division. ACL has a proud association with an independent oil and gas company in Canada whereby it holds a working interest in two blocks located in Assam-Arakan Basin in North East India.

Recent large oil and gas discoveries in India has created enormous Potential for increased investment and interest in India. ACL is Wholeheartedly committed to exploring the extremely promising opportunities of exploration, development and production of oil and gas in India.
